Beauregard Self Help

The project was funded by a recreation grant through the CDBG grant program for the Village of Bearuregard, Mississippi. The Self Help project consisted of park improvements as well as some new added buildings. Service also provided by WGK include: Re-construction of the basketball court and the baseball field. Construction of a new pavillion, bathrooms, concession stand and new parking area. The total material cost of the project was $100,000.


 


Co-Lin Boys Dorm

The project consisted of the design and construction of a new boys dormitory on the Wesson Co-Lin Community College Campus. Services provided by WGK included, preparation of conceptual grading and drainage plans, completion of a geotechnical assessment of the site, completion of an environmental assessment on the site, completion of boundary and topographic survey of the site, construction bidding and inspection. The project construction value was $225,000.00


 


County Highway Widening & Overlay Project

This county highway project of approximately 5 miles was widened and the asphalt overlay was incorporated to satisfy the pavement structure number. This was necessary due to an extremely large volume of logging trucks traveling the county highway during timber harvesting operations. The project was designed utilizing the metric system and metric specifications. Work required repair of severe base failures with the incorporation of 18 inches of crushed limestone in undercut areas and the construction of approximately 2½ inches of leveling course and a 1½ inch complete project overlay. Services also provided by WGK include, project shoulder repairs, striping and signage and daily construction inspection.


 


Crystal Springs Signalization

The project consisted of the design of four intersections in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. WGK provided the design phase services and prepared complete construction plans for four intersections to meet the design criteria of the MDOT and Federal Highway Administration. Services also provided by WGK include replaced existing light signals with decorative 17 feet pole and mast arms, new traffic striping and asphalt overlay of entire downtown district, sidewalk improvements to improve handicap access at the intersections. Evaluated traffic flow to downtown area to improve capacity with minimum delay times, design, contract and construction review administration. The project has a construction value of approximately $500,000.00.


 


Georgetown Water Supply Upgrade

The project consisted of the planning, design, construction engineering required for the construction of the new 95 feet water well for the town of Georgetown, Mississippi. WGK provided the design phase services and prepared complete construction plans for the water well project to meet the design criteria of the EPA requirements. Services also provided by WGK include, complete water analysis, design of the water well, daily well inspection, design, contract and construction review administration. The project construction value was $235,000.


 


Hazlehurst Railroad Depot

WGK,Inc.,provided consulting engineering services for the planning, programming, surveying, design and construction administration for this ISTEA Intermodal Transportation project located in historic downtown Hazlehurst, Mississippi. Reconstruction/reconfigurationof the site parking areas, including handi-cap accessibility, brick sidewalks and landscaping around the structure. Integrated green space features at all the cross walks and on the slope from the overhead bridge to the loading platform, construction of a new pavilion, new restroom facilities, a water feature and a new passenger loading platform with covered waiting area, installation of typical bench seating, raised planter beds and new decorative vintage lighting, design and construction of site drainage.


 


Hazlehurst Water Tank

This project consisted of the construction management and inspection of a 500,000 gallon elevated water tank for the city of Hazlehurst, Mississippi. Services provided by WGK As a sub-consultant WGK was responsible for the construction management and inspection of the 500,000 gallon elevated water storage tank necessary to support the City of Hazlehurst.WGK determined an altitude valve would not be necessary after climbing all the tanks in Hazlehurst and determining that the overflow elevations of each tank on the system would be at identical elevations if a lateral on-site shift was made. Given this information,WGK worked with FAA and the Copiah County Airport to re-permit the proposed tank construction site, and eliminated the altitude valve which saved approximately $35,000. Additinal site improvement savings totaling approximately $10,000 were realized after WGK made site access and paving changes which did not adversely impact the functionality of the design. The project was completed 4 months ahead of schedule and $45,000 under budget. Project construction value: $575,000


 


Tree Top Trails

WGK embraced the vision that the City of Crystal Springs Mississippi had for a 1500 foot elevated tree top boardwalk. The boardwalk named Tree Top Trails at Lake Chautauqua Park gives a squirrels eye view of the woods and creeks around, below and above the hikers. Services also provided by WGK included:Making the boardwalk vision a reality was a true challenge for our designers and builders since the terrain is so groundwater rich. Stabilizing structures was no small feat near a municipality known and named for its natural springs. The winding, wooden walk includes spots to stop, sit and relax and the rails are designed for comfortable leaning and looking. The combined project cost for the two boardwalk sections was $180,000. The project was completed in April 2002.


 


Wesson Water Tank Rehabilitation

This project consisted of the design, construction administration, and inspection of a 150,000 gallon water tank rehabilitation located in Wesson. The tank had not been in use for some time. The town acquired the tank from a private entity that had gone out of business and refurbished the tank for town\\\\\\\'s use. WGK coordinated with the town of Wesson on all aspects of this project included securing funding for this project through a Small Municipalities and Limited Population Counties Grant. WGK was responsible for the preparation of project specifications,contract documents and construction management and inspection. Project construction administration and inspection, with the project completed on time and within budget. Project construction value: $114,020.
