The poor condition of the existing bridge deck had the potential of causing severe damage to the vehicles passing over it. The structural integrity (19.5 rating) of the existing bridge would have eventually caused the bridge to be closed, causing undue inconvenience on the citizens of Summit, MS. The new bridge is a 126 foot - three span continuous flat slab concrete span. It has a clear span of 50 feet to accommodate rail road traffic. It has a traffic clear span of 28 feet and a safe load capacity of 80,000 pounds. WGK was the lead designer on the project. Town of Roxie CDBG Drainage

  County: Franklin
Category: Storm Water

The physical limits of the town of Roxie Mississippi is established in a natural drainage basin along a confluence of creeks and drainage ditches. The town has several areas that hold water during heavy rain. This was due to poor collection and transportation of storm-water across abandoned IC Railroad Tracks that dissect the town. WGK identified improvements required at 12 different sites across the Town. These improvements have created a better flow of water from private and commercial properties and ended the long standing water in certain areas that had become health hazards for the citizens of Roxie, MS. Work included installation of four new drainage inlets, 6,000 linear feet of new concrete culverts, 1,100 linear feet of new or improved drainage ditches, redistributed storm-water runoff across the railroad tracks to prevent backups in roadside drainage ditches and standing water in yards, existing ditches were cleaned out, and erosion control was used to prevent siltation and pollution of downstream creeks. Project construction value was $230,000.
