The project consisted of upgrade and expansion of an existing facultative lagoon with a history of NPDES permit noncompliance in Decatur, Mississippi. The existing facility was plagued with hydraulic short-circuiting, excessive algae production due to inadequate water depth, and lack of disinfection facilities. Particulars of the project included modification of influent piping to correct hydraulic problems. Construction of a second lagoon of adequate size and depth to treat 0.25 MGD. Construction of disinfection system, including dechlorination. Planning, Design, Survey, Contract and Construction Administration. Project construction value of $200,000. |

Decatur Water Improvements

This project consisted of the design and construction of a 500 GPM water treatment plant and a 500 GPM water well to improve the water service in the town of Decatur, Mississippi. Services included
design of an automatic valveless gravity filter and associated water treatment plant to replace the existing iron filter plant. The new plant includes a 5 foot square aerator installed on top of a 12 foot diameter detention tank that feeds water from the wells into the 16 foot diameter filter with automatic backwash capabilities. Design of a new domestic water well with a capacity of 500 GPM at an above-ground head of 25 PSI. Design, Contract and Construction Review Administration. The project construction value was $657,628. |
