Osyka CDBG Sewer Improvements
 |
| |
County: Pike
Category: Solid Waste |
|
 |

The Town of Osyka provides wastewater collection and treatment services to its residents. The Town was in immediate need of rehabilitation of their existing sewer collection system. Excessive infiltration caused manholes to overflow near the creek that flows through the town to Tangipahoa River. The Town\'s residents and businesses experienced sewer backups and slow flows during periods of rain due to groundwater and surface water infiltration into the sewer pipes. These problems occurred in different parts of town, so the problems were extensive. This infiltration placed excessive hydraulic loads on the lagoon, shortening detention time in the lagoon and reducing the lagoon\'s ability to effectively treat the wastewater of the Town.
After the Town of Osyka secured a CDBG grant to fund the necessary improvements, WGK designed sewer improvements that included replacing existing sewer lines with 4,324 L.F. of new PVC lines, manholes, and associated services.
Services provided by WGK include:
Design, Contract, and Construction Review Administration,
Construction Inspection
Project Cost $178,415.10,
Completion: Summer 2008 |
