WGK was responsible for conventional and GPS/RTK surveying to obtain data to assist in the decision of placing property lines for the acquisition of right of way and for the re-routing of SR 43. Part of the process includes taking the abstracts provided by MDOT and addressing any and all issue relating to each parcel. We then make all the boundary line decisions and place each fence where they belong in relation to the existing and proposed right of way. WGK survey crews collected all the information needed (ie, fence corners, iron pins) to assist the PLS in making final decisions on each parcel. Once the descriptions and plats are finished the completed project is turned over to MDOT.
Also, WGK prepared appraisal maps and wrote legal descriptions for the deeds for MDOT so they could purchase this new right of way.

Data Collection Phase 1 Infrastructure Study
Whitfield Complex
Rankin County, Mississippi
Client: Mississippi Bureau of Building
Schedule: Work was initiated in early December 2007 and completed in late February 2008.
Fee: $73,750
This study was commissioned to assess the adequacy of the existing infrastructure serving the Mississippi State Government Complex located in the Whitfield area of Rankin County. The need for this study arose from uncertainty regarding the adequacy of the existing facilities, and the expectation that new growth in the area would require improvements to the existing infrastructure. The Whitfield Complex was found to include 12 state government agencies or divisions, and at least two other agencies were considering relocation to the area.
This study represented Phase 1 of a larger effort and is considered to be the Data Collection phase. This study included evaluation of the existing water, sewer, gas, electric and data/telcom systems in the area for the purpose of making recommendations for improvements necessary to provide appropriate levels of service to the using agencies. While an assessment of transportation was not specifically requested, the study was expanded to consider those facilities and to provide recommendations for improvements, in response to the concerns raised by the existing agencies in the area.
This study found that significant infrastructure improvements were needed in all areas, even if no new agencies locate in the area. The study also confirmed that significant opportunities for economies of scale and enhanced reliability can be realized by the consolidation of existing utility functions in all areas. |
