CDBG Unipress Site Work

This project consisted of two phases of work for UNIPRES, an automobile parts manufacturer, who located in the City of Forest, MS in 2002 and underwent an expansion in 2005. WGK’s involvement in both projects consisted of being the City’s Engineer in support of the provision of the earthwork and grading required for the completion of the original project and the expansion. Approximately 60,000 cubic yards of on-site dirt was moved with approximately 125,000 cubic yards of select material brought on site. In addition the manufacturer’s foundation design that approximately 18,000 tons of crushed limestone be brought on site as well. Both projects utilized, Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) for the majority of the funding required to complete the projects.
Combined, for both phases, the projects had a construction value of approximately $1.4 million worth of site work. |

City of Forest Signalization

The project consisted of the replacement of existing span wire traffic signal installations at the SR 35/US 80 intersections in Forest, Mississippi with mast arm configurations. WGK provided the design phase services, prepared complete construction plans to meet the design criteria of the MDOT and Federal Highway Administration and provided construction administration/review services for the project improvements.
The project had a construction value of approximately $70,000.00. |

Morton SRF Sewer Improvements

This project consisted of upgrading the existing pump station to 12 MGD, replacement of existing force main, and WWTP modifications to expand the capacity of the existing 3 MGD activated sludge SBR facility serving the City of Morton, Mississippi. Particulars of the project included,removal of existing equipment while by-pass pumping and installation of two new 125 HP dry-pit pumps. Replacement/installation of 14,850 linear feet of 20 foot PVC force main. Renovation of the existing WWTP, including creation of an equalization basin and the installation of two new floating aerators, automated gate and valve repairs and electrical upgrades. Design, contract administration and construction review administration. The project construction value was $1,400,000. |

Morton SRF Water Improvements

This project consisted of the design of 10 inch and 12 inch water mains, a 775,000 gallon glass-fused standpipe storage tank and a 1000 GPM well to provide municipal-level water service to the developing Highway 13 / Interstate-20 corridor in the City of Morton, Mississippi.Services included,hydraulic modeling of the existing facilities to determine compatibility with future industries and for provision of fire-rate flows, tank site selection and coordination with the owner, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, and the Mississippi Forestry Commission for lease acquisition and relocation of the existing maintenance facility, design, contract and construction review administration. The project construction value was $1,000,000. |

SR21 Bridge Replacement

The project consists of the design and construction of replacement bridges on SR 21 over Hontokalo Creek in Scott County, Mississippi. This job is one of the first MDOT design-build projects, and WGKs specific tasks include
designing the horizontal and vertical roadway realignment, the main-channel bridge and relief bridge, traffic control plans for the project, and construction
staking. Additional issues to be addressed during the course of this project include constructing the entire project while keeping the existing highway open to traffic, and completing the design-build project on an accelerated schedule. Services also provided by WGK included, intensive coordination with the contractor and MDOT during weekly partnering meetings, preliminary and final design of the bridges and field surveying services. |
